Microneedling
What is it?
Microneedling (also know as collagen induction therapy) takes advantage of the skin’s self-repair process by creating thousands of precise micro-injuries to the dermis. This triggers new collagen synthesis without causing new scar tissue formation. This minimally invasive treatment stimulates your skin’s natural ability to repair itself and maximizes collagen and elastin production.
Which conditions can be treated?
-Acne Scars
-Fine Lines & Wrinkles
-Pore Size
-Texture/tone
-Scarring
-Photo Aging & Sun Damage
-Hyperpigmentation
-Hair Loss
-Dry Skin
What you need to know:
Patients tolerate microneedling very well, as a treatment session can be performed in 30 minutes or less with minimal discomfort and downtime. You can generally resume normal routine within 24 hours. Avoiding direct sun exposure and rigorous exercise for approximately 48 hours post treatment is advised.
As soon as the deepest layers of your skin are penetrated by the needles, “micro-wounds” are created. This triggers your body's wound healing processes to heal your micro wounds immediately. The dramatic results will not be visible until four to six weeks after treatment.
How many procedures are recommended?
At least four treatments are usually required for best results. For more severe scarring up to six treatments may be needed. The number of treatments can be determined based upon your individual goals and the overall health of your skin.
How do I prepare for the treatment?
Chemical peels, Retin-A, or other exfoliating creams must not be used prior to your visit. During your initial consultation we will go over your skin care regimen and answer any questions you may have.
